The skiing tradition in Zieleniec dates back to the end of the 19th century. Excellent conditions, extensive slopes and a unique microclimate are only some of the advantages of this place. Zieleniec Sport Arena is primarily about people who cultivate skiing traditions and encourage active leisure. The Bronisław Haczkiewicz Memorial will be held next Sunday, March 2, 2025 on the W6 winterpol slope, commemorating a figure of great importance for our ski resort and the entire ski environment
Who was Bronisław Haczkiewicz?
Bronisław Haczkiewicz was born on October 20, 1924 in Stanisławów. He began his life path with work on the railway during the Second World War, and already after it ended he combined his studies with work in the Railway Protection Service and in the Commercial Lyceum in Legnica. Soon after, he began studying physical education in Wrocław, which became a turning point in his career.
After graduating in 1952, Haczkiewicz began scientific and didactic work — he taught volleyball classes, then headed the Department of Various Sports and, from 1974, the Department of Winter Sports. As an active player, he represented Lower Silesia in alpine competitions, specializing in slalom.
However, Haczkiewicz's greatest achievement was the revolutionary method of teaching skiing. Thanks to a thorough analysis of movement and studies of professional literature, he was one of the first in Poland to introduce the idea of short skis — a solution that significantly influenced the effectiveness of training both beginners and athletes. His innovative approach and many years of teaching work have left a lasting mark on Polish winter sports.
Therefore, we warmly invite everyone to participate in the Memorial, which will be held next Sunday. As it happened recently, the rector of the Polish Olympians Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław took the honorary patronage of the event
