From the article you will learn:
- What are the basic rules for safe movement on the slope
- When and where you are not allowed to stop on the route
- How to help a person injured in a ski accident
Skiing is often associated with freedom or even identified with it. There is nothing wrong with that - the emotions that accompany #szusowanku have a lot to do with it. However, it is worth remembering that on most of the routes available in Polish resorts we are unlikely to be alone, which determines the need to comply with several basic rules.

They are not particularly complicated, for most of us they seem to be obvious. However, in every season and on every slope, it happens that someone's memory fails for a moment, so a consistent reminder of the 10 commandments of the ski code will always be in place.
Skiing freedom? Yes, but with a head
When moving on the slopes, remember that we must take care not only of our own safety, but also of other people who are currently skiing or snowboarding. We do not risk, let's not go crazy, despite the relaxation that comes with skiing, let's keep our eyes open and close our heads. After all, toddlers also ski, beginners ride, and the more difficult it is sometimes to master everything.

We are often tempted to go faster, to take a downhill position and feel our adrenaline level rise. All good, as long as we take into account our own skills, the type and slope and the condition of the slope, but above all the traffic. Let's remember - we are not alone on the slope. We must not pose a danger to others by the way we drive. As in the case of speed, it is a matter of the direction of travel. Let's take a look at who is driving ahead of us, or not a piece of more difficult terrain awaits us. Let's take a course so as not to fool those behind us, but also not to put pressure on those we are about to have in front of us.

Adjust speed to conditions and piston
Each of us probably travels at a slightly different speed. Because of this, almost all the time someone is ahead of someone on the slope. And just like on the road - it is extremely important to maintain the appropriate distance in relation to the overtaken. Even more so if we are dealing with someone less experienced in skiing, who can tip over or suddenly change the track.Have you taken the lift to the mountain or went downhill and decided to rest for a while? Before you get back into the movement on the slope, look up and look down. After all, this is only a fraction of a second, but extremely important, because it will allow you to avoid creating a danger. If you already have to stop for a short rest, absolutely do not choose narrower and more demanding places on the route. Do not stand behind corners, do not hide behind trees, so as not to surprise people descending this route. If you have had a fall, and they happen to everyone, either recover quickly as possible, or try to quickly leave the route.

Are you coming in or going down? Only sideways
There are also times that instead of going down, we have to approach or get off on our feet. In this case, as with a fall, we should approach or descend only along a section of the route - be visible, but stay as far away from the track as possible.Ski slopes in the largest Polish resorts are carefully marked. Let's not be under any illusions - these are not elements designed to improve the visual side of this or that ski resort. All of them are a carrier of important information for skiers and snowboarders regarding directions, difficulty of the route or prohibitions. We, entering the slope, are obliged to follow all these rules.
Accident on the road — react, help, report
The same is the case when we witness an accident on the slope - it is our responsibility to provide assistance to the injured person and call rescuers! Let's use the fantastic routes that we have available in Poland to the maximum extent. However, every time we go out on a slope, let's keep these simple rules in the back of our heads. Their observance will help not only us, but all those who will be skiing with us on the slope that day, to maintain an adequate level of safety and enjoy the fully cultivated white madness.
