Greenery — cheers!

Much more than a macro
(Micro) climate and (macro) emotions — what more could you want?

From the article you will learn about:

  • Why winter tires and chains are mandatory equipment for a winter trip to Zieleniec
  • What road conditions can surprise you, even if there is no snow in the valleys
  • How to prepare your car and yourself for a safe winter vacation

Winter in full, even more so in Zieleniec. Frequent and heavy snowfall makes road conditions challenging. That is why it is so important to follow the basic rules of safe driving and prepare for the trip before arriving at our station.

‍Here are some tips that you may find useful during your trip, regardless of whether you are coming to us from central Poland or from Kłodzko. Some of them will probably seem obvious to you - unfortunately, very often and obvious obviousness is not at all obvious to everyone in practice.

DEFINITELY NOT FOR SUMMER TIRES!

Sounds like science fiction. But believe us - such cases happened in the winter in Zieleniec! Winter tires function in completely different, variable conditions, for this they have to cope with a range ranging from a dozen degrees below to several degrees above zero. What exactly does that mean? A hard compound - as is the case with summer tires - completely does not work in winter conditions. It is simply not able to work properly with the pavement. Quite different is the case with “winter boots”, which, thanks to the soft compound, retain plasticity, and a properly fitted tread, despite poor conditions, maintains contact with the surface. The need to use winter tires is also unequivocally indicated by studies. According to those commissioned by Bridgestone, the braking distance in the snow of a summer tire is as much as 133 percent longer than that of a winter tire. Such a difference is a chasm!

CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST AND CONDITIONS

If you go to mountainous areas in winter, be sure to carefully check the weather forecast - temperature and possible snowfall. If they are not favorable, include it in your itinerary - the travel time to Zieleniec may then increase. Do not be confused by autumn or later spring in Kłodzko. In Zieleniec there is a specific microclimate, which means that even if there is no trace of snow in the lowlands, there is usually a lot of it on the access road and in Zieleniec itself - or as in the peak season - a lot of it.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF CHAINS

If you know that the conditions on the road to Zieleniec are very difficult and accompanied by heavy snowfall, do not hesitate to put on chains. Often the services are not able to properly prepare the road on an ongoing basis, which is why chains are very useful on the route. Not only that - sometimes they are simply necessary.

PULSATING BRAKES AND APPROPRIATE DISTANCE

Pulsating brake e is one of the easiest ways to avoid falling into a skid. Of course, in this case it is also crucial to maintain an adequate distance in front of the vehicle in front of you - all in order to have enough time and space for the braking maneuver - all the more so in a situation where the road surface is slippery. Also, remember not to slow down at the moment when the road is going uphill. Such situations often end with a stop of driving and the absence of the possibility of its subsequent resumption! We are aware that everyone is in a hurry to #szusowanko, however these A few minutes won't save you. (after all, the lifts are open until 21:00), and the issue of safety on the road is the most important.

CAR PREPARATION

If you know you're going to Zieleniec in the morning, secure the windows so you don't waste minutes in the morning scraping the windows. Be sure to thoroughly shovel the snow remaining on the car, clean the mirrors, check the tires...

turn on some good music and join us on #szuswanko - slowly, safely and preferably with the whole family!
